Value of Play in childhood

Value of Play in childhood

When we grew up as child, we played many games. Vacations were most awaited and delightful time during childhood. Whether it was raining or sunny, as long as there were friends around, it was fun. Choosing game that all could enjoy and participate, was tactful, when I think of this now. Therefore, I guess children are more aware and willing to resolve problems and move on.

All have their own options, yet one that has role for each was house house game. I remember it as “bharakuti”. To start the game, we need to develop the whole community then and there. From smallest to eldest, barganing and justify themselves for particular role, by this we mean role of mother, shopkeeper, doctor, uncle, daughter and so on. Leader of the game was the one with the number of tiny vessel and stack of paper money. Wrapper, leaves, pebbles, grasses with all this, we cooked number of food items, opened the grocery, made the gifts, celebrated functions, run the school. It’s amazing how children can creatively use anything that they can get their hands on.

I could not stop myself from smiling when i recall how eager I was to torn sheets from my copies and calendars to make small books, for my fellow students. Before I forget, the books were hand made. Therefore, Burner has mentioned “Play is serious business”. Further he has mentioned that it provides opportunities for many forms of learning especially problem solving and creativity. Play helps children to explore their environment enjoyably. Consequently, such activities enrich their learning of people’s role within the family and society, helping them to refine their skills.

In a group, they learn to exchange cooperation and adjust better with the friends. Children are encouraged to be creative and appreciated for their innovations in groups. Along with this they learn from each other and share their ideas openly.

Along with play there are many games we have played, like ghwaii, aass-pass, gatta etc. We all might have some childhood memories, like getting stuck somewhere, breaking things, experimenting with chewing gum, which make us feel nostalgic and bring a smile on our face. Let’s create a healthy and safe environment, where children could enjoy and play to be happy adults tomorrow.
